Animal Behavior Blog Update
Facts.
*No animal has a more distinctive coat than the zebra.
*Each animal's stripes are as unique as fingerprints.
*No two are exactly alik although each of the three species has its own general pattern.
*Zebras are social animals that spend time in herds.
*They graze together, primarily on grass, and even groom one another.
Zebras live in open, grassy plains or well-grassed woodlands. Zebras are extremely social animals. They live in large groups of females led by a stallion. Zebras have excellent eyesight and a keen sense of taste and smell. They communicate with each other with high pitched barks and whinnying.
Zebras are herbivores, they feed mainly on grasses and graze for many hours each day. Grevy's zebras also eat leaves. Zebras sleep standing up like horses.
